The big potato was built in 1977 by local potato grower Jim Mauger, who modelled it off the Sebago potato.
Incredibly, it was designed to house a potato information centre, for anyone who wanted some premium facts about the vegetable.
To be fair, this was way back before computers so something like that could have been pretty useful. Sadly though, rising costs proved an obstacle to making this a reality.
The big potato has just been listed on the market for anyone who wants to snap up a bit of history.
It’s going for a cool $920,000, which sounds expensive. But with such an iconic part of Aussie culture within reach, is there a limit you can put on this wonderful landmark?
